Eating and Drinking
No vacation is complete without some memorable food and Barmouth’s food scene has really taken off in recent years meaning your food memories can be made in all manner of ways.
One of the joys of being on holiday is relaxing over a coffee or enjoying lunch at an outdoor table with a stunning view and frankly it doesn’t get much better than the view from the harbour. But don’t assume that’s the only place you can get a perfect cappuccino. Barmouth has a great selection of cafés and snack bars many of which feature local Welsh dishes on their menus or delicious homemade cakes. Why not do a ‘café crawl’? It’s like a pub crawl but with less beer and more cake!
If you want informality or maybe just a snack to take back to your accommodation there’s a number of really good take-aways (our fish and chips regularly appear in various ‘best of’ lists). But it’s in our restaurants that the biggest change has come.
Frankly you’re spoilt for choice with everything from budget-friendly family-run restaurants to intimate bistros, buzzing bars and fine dining. So much so that several of our restaurants have started to attract national attention. Book a table and you’ll find out why! There really is plenty of choice to suit all tastes and all budgets. Many of our restaurants feature locally-sourced produce, and vegetarians, vegans and those with specialist diets are widely catered for.
Barmouth can also offer a number of attractive pubs and bars, all of them with great atmosphere, friendly staff, and hearty food. You’ll find live music in many of them too at weekends and most of them offer a wide selection of Welsh drinks and locally brewed ales. We even have our own micro-brewery. And if after all that the walk home is too much you can take one of our local taxis to whisk you from door to door. Just don’t forget to book, as they get really busy at peak times.
